Lovely Gardens A garden is such a pretty sight, especially to people who live in high-rise, concrete homes where there are no spaces left for greens like plants and flowers. Life is especially busy for many people who live in the urban jungle, trying to get ahead of one another and to save their privacy. It is indeed lovely if there is a beautiful garden to come home to after a difficult day at work. It can be relaxing to sit in front of it and read a book, and tending to the plants and flowers is a hobby can also relieve stress.

Everyone appreciates a garden that is well taken-cared of. It is rewarding to see the plants growing beautifully and the flowers blooming excellently. Perhaps that's why gardens and gardening have been featured in so many movies and television shows.

Gardens in Movies

There have been many movies created that prominently feature exciting and beautiful gardens. In these movies, the gardens are themselves one of the main characters. Listed below are just some of the movies that give gardens and gardening a starring role.

The Secret Garden, a classic story by Frances Hodgson Burnett, features a young girl who was sent to live with her uncle on a large, English estate. The young girl, Mary, struggles to find herself as she works to bring the garden back to its original splendor.

Edward Scissorhands is a memorable movie from the 90s. It features a creature that, sadly, was not completed by its inventor. Instead of normal hands, he has shears, which he uses to create masterpieces out of the local shrubbery. His creations are delightful and appealing to the eyes.

It's Complicated is a movie which features a divorced couple who start seeing each other again with disastrous results. Meryl Streep's character has a splendid garden. The fruits and vegetables she grows would make any person envious and want to start their own garden too.

Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit is a 2005 film focused around a garden. A scientist and his dog try to track down the culprit in a series of the vegetable patch events, and an upcoming vegetable competition also increases the tension. Although this film used computer generated images and not live action, it was an enormous hit.

Gardens and Gardening on Television

There were numerous channels and TV shows that featured "how-to" and clear instructions for gardening. One excellent example was The Gardener Guy. These shows highlighted gardening and tackled different issues about gardening.

There are fewer shows focused on gardening nowadays, and the viewership is not as high. A lot of gardening shows have been cancelled by their networks partly because there are fewer viewers and the shows are not earning money anymore.
